Unforgettable Adventures

The Upper Clackamas:

  • Float trips cost $425 for one and $500 for two
  • Walk and wade costs $350 for one or two
  • Lunch and fishing gear is provided
  • I guide this river under the permit of Oregon River Experiences

The Upper Clackamas is a stunning gem, within an hour of the Portland Metro Area, that often goes overlooked. I am the ONLY guide permitted to fish this river. The Upper Clackamas offers stunning mountain scenery, hypnotically beautiful water, and the highest quality trout anywhere near Portland. On this river you can expect to catch numerous small and mid-sized rainbow trout that look like shavings off a sterling silver bar. This river is also the home of trophy trout, the quality of which puts Deschutes trout to shame. I know this sounds far-fetched, but it’s the truth. I have netted many of them.

The Upper Clackamas is a more demanding fishery than our region’s most famous river, the Deschutes. If you book a trip on this river, I guarantee that you’ll catch fish. But this river’s big trout can be picky, challenging the skills of even the most savvy fisher-person. Depending on your ability, you should be hoping for one 16 to 20 inch fish per day, on top of your more average ten, twelve, and fourteen inch trout.

My walk and wade options on this river offer the most bang for your buck that you’ll get out of any guided trout fishing trip, anywhere in the state. Within easy reach of Portland, 350 dollars for my expertise on this particular water, is a steal. You’ll catch fish somewhere incredibly beautiful, with a decent shot at the kind of trout you’ll never forget.

My float trip on this river is a unique opportunity. The Upper Clackamas is where my white water skills really shine. You cannot take a hard sided boat down this river, it needs to be a raft like mine. And very few guides have the white water experience to safely run this river. From the boat you will be able to access water that literally zero other people fish. In my years on this river, I have never once seen somebody else floating and fishing it. You’ll have exclusive access to these premier fish. Fishing to unpressured trophy trout is an opportunity people pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for. Here you can have it for $500. I’ll see you on the water soon!

The Lower Deschutes:

  • Float trips cost $550 for one person and 625 for two
  • Walk and Wade costs $400 for one or two people
  • Lunch and fishing gear is provided
  • I guide this river under the permit of Oregon River Experiences

The Deschutes is one of the premier trout fisheries in the United States. The native ‘redside’ rainbow trout eagerly take flies year round and fight like crazy. This is a bucket-list river and will provide you a world class experience. You can expect to catch great numbers of mid-sized, incredibly fit, trout, with trophy class fish mixed in with some frequency.

The walk and wade option is perfect for either the passionate or the inexperienced fisher-person, who does not have the resources to drop on a float trip. I know the river extremely well. I will be able to get you a fishing experience just as good as anything the people paying for a float are getting, for a fraction of the price. I will take your time seriously and I guarantee that I will put you on fish.

The float trip is the full meal deal! You’ll witness the stunning visuals of the Deschutes canyon as you float over the relaxing flat stretches and bounce through invigorating white water. Fishing from a boat is not allowed on the Deschutes, but the boat will allow us to access water that gets less pressure from other anglers. This is a fully immersive experience and I highly recommend it!

The North Santiam:

  • Float trips cost $550 for one person or $600 for two
  • Lunch and fishing gear is provided

The North Santiam is a fun white water river that offers excellent fishing as well! If you book a trip on this river you should expect plentiful numbers of trout and very few other fisher people. As access is limited, I do not offer a walk and wade option on this river. The only way to see this pristine water way is from the raft!
