Unforgettable Adventures
Steelhead:
I guide for both winter and summer steelhead. My preferred method is nymphing. This is a highly efficient and elegant way to target steelhead. You can target fish that spey anglers can’t, and the fish eat nymphs happily. Much more happily than a swung fly. I would love to show you how to get it done, or help you get on some fish if you’re already a veteran.
I’m just as comfortable with the spey rod in my hand as I am with the nymph set up. If you can’t get enough of that tight line take, or you need a little help with your casting, I am happy to oblige. Spey fishing is exquisite and I’d be happy to help you get it done.
These are the trips I offer, but if you’ve always wanted to fish something, you can probably talk me into it:
- The CLACKAMAS: $550 for an 8 hour float
- The Nehalem: $600 for an 8 hour float (and you have to help with the shuttle)
- The NORTH SANTIAM: $500 for an 8 hour float
- The DESCHUTES: $600 to float, $450 to walk
I can provide the necessary fishing gear but you are welcome to use your own. You must bring your own waders and boots if they are needed. Lunch is provided.

Trout:
I love trout fishing! I grew up on trout and they will always have my heart. I guide trout trips all over the state but my premier offerings are on the Deschutes. It is one of the most iconic fisheries in the US. The native ‘redband’ rainbow trout eagerly take flies year round and fight like crazy. This is a bucket-list river and will provide you a world class experience. You can expect to catch great numbers of mid-sized, incredibly fit trout, with trophy class fish a possibility any day of the year. I also love the Clackamas and Santiam rivers. They are very underrated, and offer a ton of fun fishing much closer to the city. My trips are as follows:
- The LOWER DESCHUTES: $600 to float, $400 to walk
- The CLACKAMAS: $350 for a half day float and $500 for a full day float
- The NORTH SANTIAM: $550 to float
Euro Nymphing Lessons: $300 for an hour and a half of classroom instruction plus four hours on the water. They take place on the Deschutes, near Maupin.
Intro to Fly Fishing Lessons: $300 for an hour and half of classroom instruction plus four hours on the water. Deschutes, North Santiam, or Clackamas.
On all of my trips, I can provide the necessary fishing gear but you are welcome to use your own. You must bring your own waders and boots if they are needed. Lunch is provided on my full day trips.
